Abstract:

Due to the numerous controversies raised within Social Sciences around globalization, the process of capitalism production in a world where borders are put in check, emerging discussions about Modernity or a possible post-Modernity this article aims to present the concept of history from three authors: Karl Marx, Lévi-Strauss and David Harvey. To this end, a bibliographic research was carried out in order to identify the meanings of the concept of history and its approximations and distances in the referred authors. Their selection is justified due to the relevance of sociological, anthropological and cultural studies in understanding the relationship between man and history as a condition for the formation of social structures. To do so, Marx's theory of historical-dialectical materialism was first used, then the relationship between culture and human development for Lévi-Strauss, and, finally, David Harvey's notion of postmodernity. The study concluded that history, therefore, is inserted in the life of man through the system by which it participates, whether this is for economic development, for the culture in which it is inserted or for the massive industrialization in the postmodern world.
