The results show the great struggle for the recognition of the rights of the deaf vis-à-vis civil society, brushing facts about the first movements in favor of the deaf, later entering the need for health teams, without referring to specific categories, emphasizing whenever knowledge about the use of BSL can and should improve the reception of health services users. It is concluded, therefore, that there is a need for knowledge in BSL, to improve the diagnosis, monitoring and management of deaf cases in health, so that the individual is treated holistically and contemplating the principles of SUS. always emphasizing that knowledge about the use of BSL can and should improve the reception of health services users.
