Logistics is a powerful tool that must be used to increase productivity within the construction site. For this, it seeks to reduce all types of waste, whether of material, labor or time. However, despite the associated benefits, there are problems related to the lack of logistics in construction works. Therefore, this work aims to establish the importance of logistics and reverse logistics in civil construction through the logistical processes arising from other productive sectors and the National Policy on Solid Waste, respectively. To achieve this objective, a literature review was carried out in qualitative approach, including the authors interpretation. In summary, the reverse logistics cycle ends with the collection and selection, followed by recycling of materials, which was only possible through the application of Law 12,305 Brazil of 2010 and CONAMA nº 307 Brazil of 2002. An aggravating factor for the Civil Construction sector is that the construction processes in the works, and the product that derives from them, are potentially impacting the environment. It is concluded, therefore, that it is the responsibility of the Civil Engineer to deal with the logistics of the constructions and in this way the construction site will certainly improve quality and reduce cost and time. And to achieve these goals, it is necessary to organize, optimize processes (storage and transport) and mitigate waste. When applying logistics concepts all these benefits are acquired.
