Abstract:

In Africa, urban agriculture plays an important role in food security. In the context of this agriculture, the composting of cattle mixed with litter is very often used because they induce good soil properties. Now, the question is to know the use of these excreta in their fresh state, as this practice is common in vegetable agrosystems of the town of Daloa. Thus, an experimental set-up on lettuce replicating the use of fresh bovine dung has been put in place. The results of the measurements and analyzes carried out on the crops showed an improvement in the yield of the lettuce. Also, the levels of some metallic elements in the crops were far from reaching the nuisance thresholds. However, in order to prevent contamination of soils and crops in the study area, analytical soil and crop monitoring should be considered by measuring the level of accumulation of MTEs in sols.
