O Leprosy is a chronic, infectious and potentially disabling disease, which has been historically neglected in Brazil. The aim of this study was to analyze the epidemiological aspects of leprosy in the city of Anápolis - GO, based on data from the Information Technology Department of the Unified Health System (DATASUS) between 2019 and 2021. This is a descriptive study. , quantitative and retrospective, with measures calculated from secondary data. In the period between 2019 and 2021, 16119 new cases of leprosy were reported in Brazil, with 748 cases in the State of Goiás and 22 cases in Anápolis. There was a higher proportion of male and brown individuals both in the local context and in the state and national cases. As for the typification of notified cases, there was a predominance of multibacillary cases, with a proportion ranging from 77.28 to 86.36% in the local and state contexts, respectively. The most prevalent clinical form in all contexts was borderline, followed by Virchowian. Regarding the degree of disability at diagnosis, there was a predominance of grade zero disability, although there was still a significant proportion of cases not evaluated for this variable in Brazil and in the State of Goiás. Analyzing the period between 2019 and 2021, we observed a growing trend of notification of leprosy cases in Brazil as a whole, in the State of Goiás and in the municipality of Anápolis. As previously mentioned in this period, the COVID-19 pandemic also occurred worldwide, which overloaded the health and epidemiological surveillance systems, and may be correlated with the reduction in the number of notifications of leprosy in 2019, with the consequent resumption of these in 2020 and 2021.
