The study aimed to characterize and associate the sociodemographic and economic aspects and the consumption of cariogenic foods by Brazilian and foreign academics from a Brazilian university of an international character in different semesters of the undergraduate course. This is a cross-sectional analytical observational study with a quantitative approach carried out with Brazilian and foreign academics from an international university. After consenting, students answered a questionnaire. Of the 167 students, 17.96%, 11.98%, and 5.99% consumed sweet cookies, filled cookies, and desserts, once a month, respectively. There was a significant relationship between being a foreigner and consuming dessert and chocolate at least three times a week, having a father with schooling equal to or less than complete elementary school, and drinking coffee with sugar less than three times a week. It is concluded that Brazilian and foreign academics, despite the reduction in family income, lower level of education, and low-paid activity by parents, had a low frequency of consumption of cariogenic foods. However, they ingested certain sugary drinks habitually.
