Conhecimento dos enfermeiros de terapia intensiva sobre o uso do instrumento nursing activities score (nas)

Critical care nursing staff requirements based on workload measurement tools such as Nursing Activities Score (NAS) have challenges to measure all aspects of the work and its systematic use in nurses work routine. Aim: To analyze the critical care nurses' awareness of the NAS. Method: A descriptive-exploratory study with critical care nurses from a hospital in southeastern Brazil in December 2018. Data were collected by online form and submitted to simple descriptive statistical analysis. It was respected the ethical research principles. Results: Participants were predominantly young-adults (30 to 40 years), five (5) to fifteen (15) years of graduates, two (2) to five (5) years working in the hospital, 55.4% had specialization in critical care. About NAS, 57.1% have already used it at work, 78.6% believe that its use is daily. 92.9% considers all activities performed in the last 24 hours when filling it out. 58.9% considers the average score of admission and discharge in the same bed inadequate. 94.6% considers bedside evaluation, chart/prescription, and transfers of care for filling it out. Items 6 to 12 and 22 raised more doubts. In conclusion, there is a demand for NAS continuing training for improving its use in work and care management.
