Abstract:

Introduction: [...] Disabilities after a stroke can influence the quality of life of these individuals, such as impaired motor functions, limited activities of daily living, possible presence of cognitive and language deficits, depression and restrictions on social interaction (MOREIRA et al., 2015). Materials and methods: This is a descriptive-exploratory research, with a quantitative approach, the research was carried out at the Physical Rehabilitation Center Sinha Castelo located in the city of Caxias-MA. Results:According to the Treatment Adherence Measurement Test (MAT), among the 5 most affected aspects according to the frequency of responses 1, 2 and 3, the absence of medication for different reasons presents the percentage (5.7%) , absence of medication for other reasons (2.8%), forgetting the medication (2.8%) and forgetting the medication schedule (2.8%). Discussion: Evaluating the impact of quality of life and mental health is not enough to consider only the loss of neurological function and the disability triggered by the ischemic event, as there are other factors involved in this analysis, namely, advanced age, severity at the functional level, lack of social support, inability to return to work, cognitive impairment, decreased autonomy (MONTEIRO, 2011).
