Simple, accurate, reproducible, and inexpensive UV-Spectrophotometric methods were developed and validated for the estimation of lincomycin hydrochloride in pharmaceutical preparations. Licomycin hydrochloride was estimated at 196 nm in water. Beer’s law was obeyed in the range of (6–30), (0.-15) g/ml, (r = 0.999), (r = 0.999) in the direct and standard addition methods respectively. These methods were tested and validated for various parameters according to ICH guidelines. The detection and quantification limits were found to be (0.0506), (0.0366) μg /ml in the direct and standard addition methods respectively. The accuracy and precision of the methods were satisfactory. The proposed methods were successfully applied for the determination of lincomycin hydrochloride in pharmaceutical preparations. The results demonstrated that the procedure is precise, accurate, and recovery percentage were (R.S.D. < 1 %).
