Burnout Syndrome is characterized by a rupture in adaptation and personal fulfillment at work, involving negative attitudes that end up appearing in the professional/client relationship being, therefore, a problem in which the worker loses the essence of his relationship with work. According to Guido (2012), it is one of the major problems brought about by stress, characterized by the great negative consequences that involve the individual, family and collectivity. OBJECTIVE: to make a reflexive analysis about the stress routinely experienced by nurses, and its consequence on quality of life. This is a descriptive exploratory study of quantitative approach, carried out through a bibliographic review, the collection of data was performed through consultations in electronic portals, Latin American Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO). RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: We found 129 articles in LILACS, and 81 articles in SCIELO, totaling 210 publications. After applying the inclusion and non-inclusion criteria, a final sample of 18 articles was obtained. CONCLUSION: It was evidenced that burnout syndrome is present in the routine of hospitals, in the various health teams, and with more emphasis on nursing, due to high workload, low social support, inadequate shifts and low pay.
