Copper ore production performs great importance in industrial development. In this sense, strategic elements of quality assessment should guide production, impacting the way a company distributes its resources and investments. Considering the practical impossibility of achieving a complete separation of the mineral constituents, obtaining higher contents and better recoveries (product quality) consequently implies an increase in the treatment cost (process quality). Thus, compliance controls are established to measure quality highlighting the copper concentrate weighing management transported by dump trucks. Therefore, this work aims to investigate the main causes of divergences in weighing copper concentrate product, which is transported by dump trucks, since the moment the cargo leaves the mine area to its reception at the warehouse. From the collected data of analysis and investigation processes, seven main causes were identified, highlighting the importance of using Quality Management tools.
