Power electronics converters with fuzzy control based for wind turbine systems

Shaik Asia Begum, Shashavali, P. and Rajesh Kumar Gowd, N.

Abstract:

In this paper, a fuzzy logic control (FLC) is proposed for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) in wind turbine connection to Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) and also a fuzzy logic controller based wind energy conversion system where total harmonic distortion is better than PI controller. A fuzzy control strategy for achieving maximum benefits from these grid-interfacing inverters when installed in single phase load connection. The steady growth of installed wind power together with the up scaling of the single wind turbine power capability has pushed the research and development of power converters toward full-scale power conversion, lowered cost per kW, increased power density, and also the need for higher reliability. Here we are using the fuzzy controller which is the most suitable for the human decision-making mechanism, providing the operation of an electronic system with decisions of experts and also we can achieve low %THD values comparing with PI controller. In addition, using the fuzzy controller for a nonlinear system allows for a reduction of uncertain effects in the system control and improves the efficiency.
