Abstract: 

Introduction: Considering that traumatic brain injury is a major public health problem, due to the high morbidity and mortality rate, especially in younger and males, which causes major sequelae and even death. Objective: To describe the role of nurses in the care of the traumatic brain injury victim in emergency and emergency situations. Emphasize the action of the nurse in the presence of traumatic brain injury (TBI) in emergency and emergency situations; to point out the difficulties of the nurse in the care of the victims of TBI. Methodology: This is an integrative review research with a quantitative approach. The bibliographic survey included the following databases: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE) and Scientific Electronic Library online (SCIELO). Results: We selected 15 articles from which emerged 3 categories: Profile, Action and difficultiess of the nurse in the care of the victim of traumatic brain injury in the emergency and emergency. Conclusion: the nurse must obtain scientific technical knowledge for a rapid response to the trauma victim, physical and psychological aptitude, knowing how to make immediate decisions, knowledge about emergency protocols.
