Osteoporosis as important preditor in the loss of dental implants - clinical case report

Osteoporosis is a disease defined as the accelerated loss of bone mass, affects more women than men in post-menopausal women. In dentistry the identification of the disease is essential when the patient undergoes dental implants. The Surgeon Dentist can be the first to detect the disease due to oral bone loss. Dental implants are intraosseous pins placed in the mandible and / or maxilla, and these may have bone loss in the presence of the disease. The aim of this study is to demonstrate through clinical case the influence of osteoporosis on bone loss of dental implants. Osteoporosis has no cure, but its progress can be controlled when detected early in the disease. It was concluded that early identification of disease associated with the correct treatment of the multidisciplinary team, Medical / Dental Surgeon can control the progression of the disease and minimize risks.
