The Zr(IV) and Th(IV) Schiff base complexs with di--formylmethoxybis(3-pentadecenylphenyl)methane (DFMPM) and glycine were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, conductivity measurements, electronic, IR, 1HNMR spectral measurements, Powder XRD and SEM. The conductance measurements indicate that all the complexes are non electrolytes. Infrared spectra indicate the coordination of imino nitrogen and carboxylato oxygen. The electronic 1HNMR spectral results indicate that both Zr(IV) and Th(IV) ions are octacoordinated and ligand is tetradentate. The Zr(IV) and Th(IV) complexes have better antimicrobial activity, DNA cleavage ability and anticancer activity.
