Abstract: 

Development of Metabolic syndrome MS in Menopause occur due to hormonal changes, but age has added influence .The object of the study is to find out association between MS and Menopause. 164 women above 35 years of age to65 years were included in the study to assess the prevalence of MS using National Cholesterol Education Program, Adult Treatment Panel III Three or more criteria. In the study 46% belong to premenopausal women and 64% postmenopausal women. .Previously diagnosed Diabetic, hypertensive and CVD women were excluded .family history of diabetes, hypertension seen in premenopausal age group was in 4% and in post-menopausal age group in 7%. Mean value of postmenopausal women systolic, diastolic blood pressure, triglycerides and fasting blood sugar are higher than premenopausal women. Prevalence of Metabolic syndrome in postmenopausal women is 72%. Menopause can be a risk factor for Metabolic Syndrome
