Knowledge and practices regarding antenatal assessment among obstetric nurses

Aim: To assess the knowledge and practices regarding antenatal assessment among nurses working in obstetric units. Method: A descriptive research was done and data was collected from 60 nurses working in obstetric units of selected hospitals. Structured questionnaire and checklist was used to assess the knowledge and practices regarding antenatal assessment of nurses.

Optimization of cheese whey based media components for lactic acid production by lactobacillus casei using response surface methodology

The present study was carried out to optimize cheese whey media composition for maximum lactic acid production by Lactobacillus casei using Response Surface Methodology. Four media components i.e. CSL, K2HPO4, MgSO4, and Sodium acetate were subjected for optimization Response surface methodology (RSM) a central composite design to determine the optimal concentration of these components for lactic acid production by Lactobacillus casei. A satisfactory fit of the model was realized. Lactic acid production was significantly affected by interaction of CSL, K2HPO4, MgSO4, and Sodium acetate.

Equivalence in translation through German, French and Macedonian examples

This paper aims to wards a review of the history of determining and debating about the term equivalence in the translation studies and by giving examples from German, French and Macedonian, it tries to apply the theoretical statements into practicing translation. The notation equivalence has caused heated controversy in the translation theory as well as many different analyzes of its concept, especially of its definition, relevance and applicability with in the field of translation studies.

Effects of nickel on haematological parameters in the estuarine fish liza parsia

Effect of 10 and 30 % sublethal concentration (12.4 ppm; 96 h LC50) of nickel on the haematology of Liza parsia after the exposure period of 30 days was studied. The RBC count (-35.82%) and Hb content (-63.28%) decreased significantly with an increase in WBC count (+28.95%). The light microscopic studies revealed many morphological changes in the RBC of fish such as wrinkling of cell membrane, vacuolization and rupture of erythrocytic membrane.

Effect of heavy metal nickel on ultrastrcutural changes in the gill of the estuarine fish liza parsia

Effect of 10 % sublethal concentration (12.4 ppm; 96 h LC50) of nickel on the gill ultra structure of Liza parsia after the exposure period of 30 days was studied. The SEM studies revealed many morphological changes in the gill of Liza parsia such as epithelial hypertrophy, fusion of secondary lamellae, necrosis and degenerating microridges with mucous opening due to chronic exposure of the nickel.

Comparative analysis of alkaline protease production by solid state and submerged fermentation

Enzymes produced from microorganisms that can survive under extreme pH could be particularly useful for commercial applications under high alkaline conditions. In this research project comparative analysis of solid state fermentation and submerged fermentation is carried out, in order to find out which is better of the two. Fungal isolates were screened for alkaline protease production on Skim milk containing agar plates and identified by clear zones of protein hydrolysis around colonies.

Studies on the effect of nutrient management practices on the growth and yield of sweet corn

A field experiment was conducted during summer, 2015 to study the response of sweet corn (Zea mays L) to various nutrient management practices, laid out in randomized block design with three replications that comprises of viz., T¬1 Control, T2 RDF alone (135 : 62.5 : 50) kg NPK ha-1, T3 RDF + Micro nutrient mixture @ 20 kg ha-1,T4 RDF + Soil application of humic acid @ 50 kg ha-1, T5 125% RDF alone, T6 125% RDF + Micro nutrient mixture @ 20 kg ha-1,T7 125% RDF + Soil application of humic acid @ 50 kg ha-1, T8 RDF + Micro nutrient mixture @ 20 kg ha 1+ soil application of humic acid @ 50 kg

Children in conf lict with the law: The case of street children in the Philippines

This study generally aimed to assess the implementation of Republic Act No. 9344 otherwise known as the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006 in the Philippines and its effects to minors in conflict with the law. Descriptive method was used in this study. Multi-sampling technique was employed due to a relatively large number of population.
