A modified CTAB DNA extraction procedure for plants belonging to the family Sapindaceae

A good DNA extraction procedure for the isolation of genomic DNA should yield adequate and intact DNA of reasonable purity. The procedure should also be quick, simple, and cheap and if possible should avoid the use of dangerous chemicals. This paper describes a simple, rapid and efficient method for isolating genomic DNA extraction methods for mature leaves, resting buds and seedling leaves of 5 different genera namely Sapindus, Cardiospermum, Litchi, Allophilus, Dodonea of Sapindaceae.

Karst areas are usually water deficit due to lack of surface runoff, groundwater exceeding 120 m depth, and no obvious sign of underground streams on the ground surface. Guangxi Province karst areas in the southwestern part of China are well known for its drought conditions. It is often classified as extremely fragile karst ecosystem. Rock desertification occurs easily in this region, due mainly to less soil cover, shortage in surface water resources, and difficult vegetation recovery.

Antimicrobial sensitivity for Burkholderia pseudomallei : Retrospective with literature review

We have reviewed the antibiotic susceptibility profiles for 138 clinical isolates of B. pseudomallei obtained from the first positive clinical specimen from 138 melioidosis patients over 13 years. All isolates of B. pseudomallei (100%) tested against imipenem, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, piperacillin/ tazobactam and meropenem were sensitive. Whereas little resistance was reported against ceftazidime (n=1, 0.7%), chloramphenicol (n=2, 2.1%), tigecycline (n=2, 0.4%) and cefipime (n=2, 2.3%). Up to half isolates tested for trimethoprim/sulphamethazole showed resistance (n=52, 38.3%).

Land use land cover change detection using remote sensing and gis techniques - A case study of ambuliyar watershed in 2003 and 2012

The study aims to effects of Land Use/Land Cover Changes (LU/LCC) is the quantitative method, to expound the impact of land use/land cover changes in Ambuliyar watershed, Tamilnadu, India. The relationship between Land Use Changes and its trend is analyzed using IRS LISS III data. Further, the preparation of LU/LC map using Survey of India (SOI) Toposheet for the year of 1972 has come in handy to know the past land use pattern.

The effect of project-based learning against students’ engagement

This research was conducted to study the effects of project-based learning approach in terms of students' engagement in classroom of Information Communication Technology (ICTs). The study involved two sets of the modules, namely project-based learning with scaffolding and existing approaches. Both modules are used as a guide in the implementation of the project for the Computer Hardware topic. The study was based on a quasi-experimental approach using nonequivalent control groups design to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching approaches on students’ engagement.
