Compreendendo o transtorno da personalidade borderline a partir da psicanálise

José Raimundo Evangelista da Costa and Angélica Suzart Cruz Endo

Abstract:

The study aimed to report and discuss the case of a patient with borderline personality disorder, assessing situations of risk to herself and those in close proximity. To comprehend the psychological suffering of the patient and the clinical management provided by psychoanalytic professionals. All information reported in the study was obtained through observation, interviews, and literature review. The results and discussion indicated that borderline personality disorder is characterized by chronic instability in life, often manifesting itself through severe episodes of emotional dysregulation and impulsivity, along with an increased tendency to seek help in the field of mental health. Intolerance to being alone and the need for the presence of others are prominent features of borderline personality disorder. The study underscored the importance of a psychoanalytic approach and treatment for patients with borderline personality disorder, aiming to explore their subjectivity and independence while considering the ethics of care.
