Assess the knowledge regarding the heat related illness among the road side workers

Abstract: 

Aim of the study: To assess the knowledge regarding the heat related illness among the road side workers. Background: Heat-related illness occurs when the body is more unable to control the body temperature than it can dissipate due to ambient environmental factors or to physical activity, and can be exacerbated by predisposing medical conditions or other individual factor. Design: Cross sectional descriptive design. Methods: Randomized Convenience sampling method was used. A total of 30 worker participated in the study. BMI assessment was used to assess the knowledge heat related illness and for data collection. Result: Out of 30 sample,40% of workers were in the age group of 20-30year,60%of workers were the age group of 30-40year, Among the 30 sample 66.66%male, 33.33%female, regarding the education 73.33% were studied non educator 26.33% were studied primary school, 80% married, 20%unmarried 86.66% road side work, 13.33% building worker, In 2-4 hours 13.33% of people were working in sun light, In 4-6 hours 86.66% people were working in sun light. Conclusion: This study indicates that knowledge assessment is a simple and cost effective method. It can be used effective in improving the heat related illness to prevent from heat stroke
